Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/12/26

Training camp continued today with media on hand for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • This was the second of two joint practices with the Bucs;
  • Kenyon Sadiq, D'Angelo Ponds and T'Vondre Sweat were all working on the side;
  • One on one drills began with David Bailey blowing by Luke Goedeke;
  • In 7-on-7 action, Geno Smith his AD Mitchell for two early touchdowns and also threw one to Garrett Wilson;
  • Cade Klubnik had an early touchdown to Jelani Woods and one to Chase Curtis;
  • Baker Mayfield had a long completion early on in 7-on-7's but then the defense responded with a Bailey sack, a McDonald run stop and an Azareye'h Thomas deep breakup;
  • The Jets gave up a long run off the edge, but Bailey made a stop on the next run;
  • It took over half an hour for the first fight to break out, with Tim Patrick in the middle of it;
  • Brandon Stephens got beaten for a big play by Ted Hurst, who made a tough catch in tight coverage;
  • Klubnik hit Arian Smith on a deep ball for a 50-yard touchdown;
  • Breece Hall had a big run off a spin move that was followed up by another fight;
  • Smith hit Wilson for a nice gain over the middle as he started off 6-of-7 in 11-on-11's, but then Armand Membou gave up a coverage sack on the next play;
  • After another Hall run, Smith misfired on a potential touchdown to an open Wilson;
  • Following a false start, Smith hit Taylor for a third down conversion and then hit him for a short touchdown in red zone work;
  • Dane Belton got beaten for a touchdown on a fade route;
  • Jamaal Pritchett dropped a good deep throw by Klubnik;
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick had a good downfield pass breakup;
  • In two minute work, the Bucs marched downfield and scored a short touchdown one play after Stephens was called for pass interference in the end zone;
  • On their turn, the Jets got a big third down catch from Taylor but Membou was called for a hold as Bain beat him for another sack. Ruckert had a leaping third down catch to keep the drive alive but Jason Sanders missed a 61-yard field goal to end practice. Braelon Allen also had a drop on the drive; and
  • Smith ended up 10-for-17 in 11-on-11 work.
