Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/3/26

Training camp continued today with media on hand for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Today was a padded practice but it was short and conducted in the rain;
  • Joseph Ossai, T'Vondre Sweat and D'Angelo Ponds remain out and are not expected back this week per the head coach;
  • Kenyon Sadiq also missed practice as they are managing his workload since his return from hernia surgery;
  • It was a rough practice from the offense, who dropped eight passes on the day (including individual drills). Geno Smith was 4-for-9, including 2-for-5 in 11-on-11's and Cade Klubnik was 8-for-12 overall;
  • Smith threw his first interception of camp on his first pass of 11-on-11's. Minkah Fitzpatrick came down with it after Demario Davis had good coverage on Mason Taylor and Smith sailed the throw;
  • Davis was also in on a run stuff;
  • Brandon Stephens had two good pass breakups on Wilson and AD Mitchell. Nahshon Wright also had a pass breakup;
  • Smith's best throw of the day was a deep connection to Omar Cooper who made a twisting catch downfield against Andre Cisco;
  • Jelani Woods had three catches;
  • Smith also connected downfield with Wilson for 15-20 yards but that one might have been a sack;
  • The Jets had some success on outside runs with both Breece Hall and Braelon Allen picking up good yardage. David Bailey got sucked inside on one of these;
  • In one-on-one drills, Wilson was stopped by both Wright and AZ Thomas but made a circus catch on a Klubnik pass;
  • Also in one-on-ones the offensive line handled the defensive line for the most part, but Bailey did draw a hold from Olu Fashanu; and
  • Dane Belton reportedly had an active day as he was in the backfield a few times and could have had a couple of sacks.
