Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/4/26

Training camp continued today with media on hand for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Kenyon Sadiq missed practice again and Aaron Glenn stated after practice that he has had a setback and will be out for a while;
  • Brandon Stephens forced an incompletion on Geno Smith's first pass of the day;
  • Smith hit Omar Cooper who got downfield thanks to an Isaiah Williams block but then fumbled after a Kiko Mauigoa hit;
  • Jelani Woods had a good gain on a catch and run;
  • Smith found Mitchell near the sideline on a timing route against Stephens;
  • Jeremy Ruckert caught two passes from Cade Klubnik as he opened up 3-for-3. Williams caught the other on a play where Klubnik was flushed from the pocket;
  • Bailey Zappe hit UDFA tight end Chase Curtis over the middle in traffic;
  • Azareye'h Thomas made a good play in downfield coverage against Garrett Wilson;
  • Mason Taylor picked up a nice gain with yards after the catch on a sidearm throw from Smith;
  • Wilson made a spectacular sideline catch on a 15-20 yard pass from Smith to his back shoulder;
  • Smith hit Ruckert underneath and then hit Mitchell out wide, who held on to make a tough catch with Stephens all over him;
  • Smith was then intercepted again, as Sherwood tipped a pass intended for Taylor and Stephens came up with it. Taylor then had a bad drop on the next play;
  • Smith was almost intercepted again, by Minkah Fitzpatrick, in 7-on-7's;
  • Armand Membou was dominating in one-on-one drills, but David Bailey got past Olu Fashanu once;
  • Klubnik connected with Williams on a deep ball in 1-on-1's;
  • Rookies Darrell Jackson and Anez Cooper also made an impression in 1-on-1's;
  • Will McDonald had a good play on the edge to blow up a run;
  • Smith was sacked by multiple players in a protection breakdown shortly after this;
  • Braelon Allen had a few nice gains on the ground and UDFA Chip Trayanum also looked good running the ball;
  • Breece Hall then also had a nice run off the edge as Bailey got sealed inside;
  • Smith made a good downfield throw to Williams, who made a juggling catch;
  • Klubnik hit a quick pass to Jamaal Pritchett for a nice gain near the end of practice;
  • Smith ended up 7-for-12 in 11-on-11's with Klubnik 6-for-10. They combined to go 5-for-6 in 7-on-7's; and
  • Jason Sanders and Cade York combined to make 15 of 16 field goals with the only miss by York from 43 yards. Both made a 60-yarder.
