UFL update: Ex-Jets RBs play key role as Louisville holds off DC to win the title
The UFL title game, also known as the Union Bowl, took place on Saturday afternoon and some of the ex-Jets players we've been keeping you updated on played major roles as Louisville triumphed. The Kings held off the DC Defenders to win the title in their first season by a score of 27-20.
In a game where only one offensive touchdown was scored in the first three quarters and neither team was able to establish a passing game, three ex-Jets running backs got a chance to shine.
Xazavian Valladay was the big story in the first half. Initially, he looked like he was going to run for a 70-yard touchdown but the ball got punched out for a turnover:

However, he got a chance to redeem himself and this time scored a long touchdown to give him 111 yards on the day, on just four carries:

Unfortunately, his roller-coaster afternoon took another turn as he was hurt returning a kickoff later on and never got another carry, although he did catch a short pass.
DC's other ex-Jets running back was all-UFL selection Deon Jackson, who led the league in rushing during the season and he also had a productive game on Saturday with 56 yards on 11 carries.

Louisville was trailing heading into the fourth quarter and had not yet scored an offensive touchdown, but two quick scores put them ahead. The second was by another ex-Jet James Robinson, who racked up 69 yards on 16 carries.

Other than the three running backs, there were also contributions from ex-Jets Brandon Smith and Anthony Hines at linebacker for the Defenders. They combined for nine tackles.
As for Louisville, ex-Jets receivers Isaiah Winstead and Tarik Black made their mark. Winstead had a game-high four catches for 22 yards and Black had the longest pass play of the day.

DC got inside the 10 yard line with less than two minutes to go, but turned the ball over on downs as Louisville hung on to get the win.
