Which ex-Jets will be playing in the CFL this year?
We've been keeping you up to date with how ex-Jets have been faring in the UFL during the offseason, and whether any players could be targets for NFL teams. The CFL's preseason begins this weekend, so let's also see which former Jets are currently in camp up in Canada.
The league has already been rocked by the shock suspension of legendary former Jets quarterback Chris Streveler, who passed for six touchdowns and rushed for nine in a utility role last year.
Another ex-Jets quarterback, James Morgan, saw his first season in Canada end with a release in February. He had completed 55 of 93 passes for 547 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions in a reserve role last year.
Who IS going to be competing, though?
New to the league
A couple of players who were in camp with the Jets last season - defensive end Michael Fletcher and wide receiver Dymere Miller - head to the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Argonauts respectively.
Wide receiver TJ Luther is also giving the football north of the border a try with the Edmonton Elks. He was with the Jets a few years ago and then had a few stints elsewhere.
There is one other ex-Jet who played in the CFL in the past who is now heading back there: Toronto offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley.
Edge defender Maalik Hall actually went to Canada last year but didn't make a roster. He's giving it another try in 2026 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Returning in 2026
There aren't that many other ex-Jets that played in the CFL last year and are remaining in the league for 2026, but nearly all of them played a significant role in 2025, including three CFL all stars.
Keon Hatcher led the league with 1,688 receiving yards and was tied for the lead with 102 receptions as he also had nine touchdowns. He returns to the BC Lions.
Julian Howsare, who is returning to Hamilton, was once the Jets' starting fullback. He's now back to being a pass rusher though and had his best season last year as he had 43 tackles, 13 sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown.
The other all-star was defensive back Tevaughn Campbell who had a triumphant return to the league where his career began. He returned his six interceptions for over 200 yards, including a 112-yard touchdown. Yes, you read that right.
While they weren't all-stars, three other ex-Jets - wide receiver Tim White, kicker Sergio Castillo and linebacker Micah Awe played major roles.
White moved to Winnipeg from Hamilton, for whom he had a thousand-yard season. He'll now be a teammate of Castillo, who made 48 of 56 field goals, including a 63-yarder. Awe moves to Montreal from the BC Lions with whom he posted a league-high 117 tackles last season.
Wide receiver Pokey Wilson made his return to the CFL last September and caught three touchdown passes in the regular season and one in the playoffs. He remains in Winnipeg, where he was before the Jets picked him up last year.
The others to watch are defensive lineman Jake Ceresna, who is moving from Edmonton to Winnipeg, and wide receiver Mario Alford, who is moving from Saskatchewan to Hamilton.
Ceresna had double-digits in sacks in 2022 and 2023 and eight in 2024 but just one last season so he seems to be past his prime. Alford's main value is as a kick returner where he averaged 28 yards per kickoff return to lead the league. That included a 99-yard touchdown. He also averaged 11 yards per punt return.
We'll keep you up to date with anything significant that happens in this league.
