Breaking: Jets draft DB Ashtyn Davis with the 68th pick

Having addressed the tackle and receiver positions with their first two picks, the Jets went in another direction with one of the picks they acquired from the Giants for Leonard Williams.

California defensive back Ashtyn Davis played the safety position over the past two seasons but did begin his career as a cornerback.

He could initially end up in a role where he plays in three safety sets or as a nickel back next season, but - looking ahead - the team has given themselves options if they don't extend both Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. Alternatively, perhaps they feel he can move back to corner. Davis is also a solid kick returner, which fills a need.

The Jets are scheduled to pick again soon - at 79 - and will also have a pick later on (101) thanks to Joe Douglas' earlier wheeling and dealing.

We'll have more analysis on this tomorrow, but let us have your initial reaction in the comments section.
