Breaking: Jets sign Greg Van Roten

I guess the Jets were serious about upgrading their offensive line, huh?

The 30-year old was out of the league a few years ago, but managed to earn a roster spot with the Panthers in 2017 following a stint in Canada, then worked his way into being a full time starter at left guard. He started 27 games over the past two years, giving up three sacks and four penalties.

With Van Roten likely to have received starter money, this perhaps increases the chances that Brian Winters could be released to save some cap space. However, the team may opt to retain him into the offseason and then see if they can trade someone if everyone is healthy. This Bills adopted the same kind of approach last year, with good success.
