Buzz: Jets expected to sign LB Avery Williamson

It looks like the Jets are going to be moving on from Demario Davis:

The 26-year old Williamson is 6'1" and 246 pounds, making him an ideal partner for the undersized Darron Lee in the middle of the Jets defense. He's regarded as one of the best young linebackers in the NFL and recorded 92 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed in 2017.

Last season, Pro Football Focus ranked Williamson as the 3rd overall ILB in the NFL and 2nd against the run.

It was reported that Williamson had turned down an offer of a four-year, $12 million contract from the Titans, which seems shockingly low for an ascending player about to hit his prime.

The Jets were thought to be seeking to remain Demario Davis - their leading tackler in 2017 - for around $4-5 million per year, but he was said to be looking for upwards of $8 million per year. Davis was tied for 5th (7th against the run) in PFF's rankings.

We'll get to an in-depth scouting report on Williamson eventually...
