Buzz: Jets to host free agent pass rusher Benson Mayowa
Before the negotiating window opens up this afternoon, the Jets have made plans to bring in a player who was cut last week:
The #Jets are hosting former #Cowboys pass-rusher Benson Mayowa, source said. He’s got the #Redskins tomorrow. #Seahawks and #Colts also expecting visits (if he doesn’t).

It looks like there will be some competition for Mayowa's services, but he's not likely to be an expensive signing and this certainly shouldn't be viewed as a priority for the Jets, who should be in the mix for some much bigger names over the next few days.
Mayowa, who will be 27 on opening day, has played for three different teams since going undrafted in 2013 and has nine career sacks in five seasons. Six of those came in 2016 and he entered last year with many people predicting he'd be a breakout candidate with the Cowboys. Despite starting the first two games, Mayowa spent most of the year as a rotational back-up.
