Camp Recap: Day 25 - 8/22/2018
The Jets were on the field for their final camp practice this afternoon. Here were some of the main things that happened, as reported by media on site:
- Lucky Whitehead returned to practice and was in the group returning punts along with Trenton Cannon, Andre Roberts and Tre McBride;
- Steve McLendon, Jeremy Clark and Xavier Coleman were not in pads. McLendon did some running on the side, while Kendall Reyes spent practice on the exercise bike;
- Taylor Bertolet missed a 53-yard field goal but made his other five;
- Sam Darnold opened up with the first team offense against the scout team;
- Brian Winters and Kelvin Beachum were again working with the first unit;
- Darnold started off a bit shaky, missing a few throws;
- Chris Herndon had a leaping touchdown catch at the back of the end zone;
- Josh Martin had a couple of sacks in the not-full-speed team periods;
- Bridgewater got some reps but McCown did not, so he's clearly not playing on Friday night;
- As expected the session ended early;
- After practice Todd Bowles admitted that a rotation at outside linebacker is quite possible;
- When asked which position group had impressed him the most, he said that the tight ends and secondary had been the most consistent; and
- He confirmed that, in Friday night's game, the starters will play at least the first two quarters and that Kelvin Beachum and Brian Winters could play.
