Countdown to Camp: 19

As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're taking a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...

The Current 19

Former second round pick Devin Smith is still on the team, despite missing much of his rookie season and all of last year due to injuries. He's been a huge disappointment and the Jets have a lot of other options so his chances of making the roster seem slim.

The Greatest

Keyshawn Johnson was a pro bowler twice in his four years as a Jet, as he had two thousand-yard seasons and scored 34 touchdowns including two in the postseason. However, he forced his way out at the end of his fourth season, leading to the 2000 draft where the Jets had four first round picks and set the table for their success over the next decade.

Here's one of his postseason touchdowns:

The 1999 season saw the Jets lose Vinny Testaverde and five of their first six games. They rallied to 8-8 behind Ray Lucas. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.

Here's Bilal Powell's overtime game-winner in San Francisco in 2016. This was Bryce Petty's only win as a starter:

19 on the scoreboard

Three memorable overtime games saw the Jets win 19-16. Pat Leahy's field goal beat the Packers in 1991 after Chris Burkett's touchdown on a Hail Mary pass ended the first half. John Hall beat the Ravens in 1996 despite Testaverde's late-tying touchdown pass for Baltimore. Then, in 2007, the 1-8 Jets upset the 7-2 Steelers behind Kellen Clemens, as they racked up seven sacks, including 2.5 by DeWayne Robertson.

Let us know if there's any connections to 19 that we missed...
