Roster News: Jets claim RB Johnson

The Jets made a move the day after their loss to Denver:

The 23-year old Johnson was a sixth round pick out of Maryland last season and spent his rookie year with the Lions after running a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash at his pro day.

In his rookie year, Johnson rushed for 273 yards and caught 24 passes with his best output being in the final game of the season when he rushed for 65 yards on three carries, boosting his average from 3.5 to 4.3 yards per carry. He also contributed with four tackles and as a kickoff returner on special teams.

He played in two games so far this year but didn't get any offensive touches.

No corresponding move was announced yet but the Jets should get a roster exemption until he clears Covid protocols.
