Roster News: Jets elevate Campbell and Dawkins to active roster

The Jets have made a couple of roster moves ahead of tomorrow's game:

The Jets have two open roster spots but the way this has been worded suggests they are simply elevating these two players for Sunday's game and then they will revert to the practice squad again. It seems a bit pointless to do this unless you're intending for both players to be active though. Either way, the Jets will only need five players to be inactive on Sunday.

Dawkins is a 23-year old who was an undrafted rookie last season. He played 10 games with the Bucs last year, but didn't record any stats and only played five defensive snaps. However, he played extensively on special teams where he had two penalties. He had four tackles in four games in preseason for the Bengals last year. The Jets need extra depth at linebacker with Blake Cashman on injured reserve.

Campbell has yet to make his NFL debut although he saw action in four preseason games at safety with the Browns in 2018. He ran a 4.40 and posted a 39-inch vertical at his pro day. He provides extra depth at defensive back with Bless Austin on injured reserve.

Hogan's release is no surprise given that the Jets have had six healthy receivers over the past month and have a few others on practice squad that would be more sensible additions if a place were to become available.
