Roster News: Jets place Jarrad Davis and Isaiah Williams on Covid-19 reserve

The Jets expect to be able to activate multiple players from Covid-19 reserve for practice tomorrow but the list grew a little today:

Williams might not seem like a major loss but with Connor McGovern out of the season and both starting guards still on the Covid reserve list, the Jets could be extremely light on the interior line this weekend.

They'll be hoping Alijah Vera-Tucker and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif will be able to return this week, or at least one of them, but just in case they don't the Jets protected practice squad members Dru Samia and Ross Pierschbacher this week.

Davis played 30 snaps against the Jaguars, although that was the most he'd played in six weeks. They may get Hamsah Nasirildeen and Noah Dawkins off the Covid list this week. Otherwise Del'Shawn Phillips will need to step up.

The Jets also protected Daniel Brown, which makes sense with Trevon Wesco added to injured reserve and Kenny Yeboah still on the Covid reserve list.

They also protected Tanzel Smart despite the fact he's actually on the Covid reserve list already, but presumably that's a sign he's coming back. The Jets only had three active interior defensive linemen this week.

As for the Bucs, they placed two of their better cornerbacks - Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean - and stud wide receiver Mike Evans onto Covid-19 reserve over the past few days, but it's not too late for any of them to be reactivated. Head coach Bruce Arians' status is also in doubt following a positive test.
