After the reports of Dalvin Cook's release, it seems the Jets also got rid of another washed-up veteran that produced nothing (literally, in this case):
The Jets have released veteran OL Rodger Saffold from their practice squad.— Field Yates (@FieldYates) January 2, 2024
When the Jets picked Saffold up on trade deadline day, the media made out that the Jets had helped themselves out in a big way and coach Robert Saleh suggested Saffold would just need a few weeks to get into shape and then would be activated.
However, despite multiple more injuries, the former pro bowler was never elevated. If he couldn't help them more than the series of inexperienced players they gave starts to ahead of him, then presumably he was never going to help them at all.
