Roster News: Jets sign Clark to active roster, make more practice squad moves

In addition to the Sterling Shepard move reported earlier the Jets have made some others:

Additionally, we've signed WR Sterling Shephard, WR Tyler Johnson and S John Saunders to the practice squad. We've also released LB Jaden Keller and OL Xavier Newman from the PS

Clark was an obvious call-up with Minkah Fitzpatrick set to miss 2-3 games with a groin issue. He can play nickel or safety, but will mostly just provide cover for a group which hopefully will get D'Angelo Ponds back this weekend.

Johnson's return is interesting after he was here last year and had some good moments but was mostly phased out for younger options. He and Sharp can add depth with Tim Patrick on injured reserve and Omar Cooper now also out.

Saunders is a 25-year old who spent time with Miami and New England as an undrafted rookie last year but did not make his NFL debut. He has sub-4.6 speed.

Newman departs after a few years in a reserve role with the occasional spot start, while Keller was probably surplus to requirement since the Trevin Wallace waiver claim. The Jets already have another linebacker, Troy Reeder, on the practice squad.
