Roster News: Jets sign DE Holmes, place Odenigbo on IR

The Jets have made a personnel move to begin the week.

Last week, the Jets added Pita Taumoepenu, perhaps so they had one extra body for preseason to prevent Bryce Huff from having to play so deep into the game. However, Odenigbo getting injured during the week landed them in the same position again, so now they're replacing him.

Holmes was a fourth round pick out of Ohio State and started nine games in 2020. However, he's only started one other game in his career and his only sack was during his rookie season. He has 60 tackles, six tackles for loss, five quarterback hits and three passes defensed in 34 career games. Last year, he played just one game with the Bears and recorded three tackles off the bench.

He's also played some defensive tackle, but the Jets probably need him more at the defensive end position over the next two weeks.
