Roster News: Jets sign QB Johnson, release LB White

The Jets made a move ahead of today's practice:

A veteran backup coming in at some point was inevitable and Johnson makes sense because he was recently with the 49ers so will know the system.

Johnson has been in the league a long time but hasn't had too many chances to play. He most recently saw action with Washington when Mark Sanchez was struggling there a few years ago.

This is the second time Johnson has signed with the Jets. He played one preseason game with them several years ago, in which he rushed for 76 yards on three carries.

UDFA linebacker Brendon White was released in the corresponding move.
