Roster News: The Jets have claimed, for football purposes, CB Corey Ballentine

The Jets made a roster move:

Ballentine was a sixth round pick in last year's draft and was injured in a shooting the following weekend. He started the first two games of the season and two more last year, but has struggled overall in his first two seasons.

He has 42 tackles, two passes defensed and a quarterback hit in his first two seasons and has averaged 23.5 yards per kickoff return. He has four special teams tackles this year, seeing action mostly on kickoffs.

Ballentine, who ran a 4.47 at the combine and posted outstanding explosiveness numbers, was the Cliff Harris award winner in 2018.

The Jets may need cover at the slot cornerback position following the injury to Brian Poole in Monday night's game.
