The 2022 JetsFix Roster Relay: Third Leg

As we do every year, we're going to mark preseason with a series of fan-sourced roster projections. The idea is that as players make their case in each preseason game this will be reflected in the next leg of the relay, along with other developments such as injuries.

We set up the run into the home straight today with the Majordomo of the Butt Dungeon, Jet-UP, who sets out the revised 53 for us below...

Men, what lies ahead of you is not just a mere guess at how the roster will shake up. No. It is a vision from the future. I have traveled the stars, explored the multiverse, found the sports almanac from Back to The Future. This is the official 2022 New York Jets roster after cuts are final.

Feel free to read or skip directly to the comments. I don't really care which you do. In all reality this is a mixture of what I would do/what I think the Jets should do, not what I think the Jets will do. I also tried my best to make it different from previous relays so we could have something new to yell at each other over, rather than Becton's weight, Zachs ability to hook up with moms, or Mims knowing how to play multiple positions.

That being said... away we go...

QB (2): Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco

Mike White stinks. Get off my team. Yes, this leaves us vulnerable for the first few weeks but we have a practice squad and too much depth at other positions to carry 3 QBs when 1 of them is hot trash.

RB/FB (4): Breece Hall, Mike Carter, Tevin Coleman, Nick Bawden

Cutting Bam Knight was a difficult choice, but I feel like the team values a veteran running back on the roster. Hoping we can sneak Bam onto the practice squad.

WR (6): Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Garret Wilson, Braxton Berrios, Jeff Smith, Denzel Mims

While Mims time here seems to be almost over, I do not think that the other guys have shown enough that will warrant him being cut, especially with Tarik Black getting a concussion and not being able to play for a few days.

Mims may end up in the second round of cuts, but he lives to see at least one more day.

TE (4): CJ Uzomah, Tyler Conklin, Jeremy Ruckert, Lawrence Cager

CAGERSZN. He has done enough to earn this spot and I do not think the team will want to expose him nor Ruckert to waivers.

OC (2): Connor McGovern, Dan Feeney

At this point, I think they are merging into the same person so I feel like this should count as 1 spot.

OG (3): Laken Tomlinson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Ross Pierschbacher

Wanted a different backup than other people, so here is Ross.

OT (4): George Fant, Duane Brown, Max Mitchell, Chuma Edoga

McDermott is trash. We need more depth here for sure, but, we can sneak a few guys onto the PS as I do not fear another team poaching McDermott.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Offensive changes: White, Knight, Herbig, McDermott out. Mims, Smith, Pierschbacher, Coleman in.

DT (4): Quinnen Williams, Sheldon Rankins, Solomon Thomas, Nathan Shepherd

DE (6): Carl Lawson, John Frankin-Myers, Jermaine Johnson, Michael Clemons, Jacob Martin, Bryce Huff

Ideally, I would want to have more big bois for the middle of the line, but, JFM’s flexibility allows us to only carry 4. This same flexibility makes it so that we want to keep an additional edge. Huff makes the roster unless we get a trade we can’t refuse for him. Sad to see Vinny Vindaloo go, but, the best ability is availability. "Health is a skill. Yada yada yada" - Fatrex

LB (4): CJ Mosely, Kwon Alexander, Quincy Williams, Marcell Harris

None of the young guys have shown quite enough to bounce Harris or Kwon off the roster. Although Sherwood is getting close after his performance in game 2. Quincy still seems to be a guy that the coaching staff loves considering how violent he plays. He sticks around for another year.

CB (7): D.J. Reed, Sauce Gardner, Mike Carter II, Bryce Hall, Javelin Guidry, Isaiah Dunn, Justin Hardee

Really only 6 since Hardee isn’t going to play significant defensive snaps. Despite Hall trying his best to lose his roster spot last game, he is still good depth for the boundary.

S (4): Lamarcus Joyner, Jordan Whitehead, Will Parks, Jason Pinnock

Sad to see Davis go, but he clearly has fallen behind in the pecking order. Will Parks has been outplaying him, so it is time to wish the guy who is named like a girl Brendan would hook up with at Coachella goodbye.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Defensive changes: Echols, Davis, Sherwood out. Huff, Harris, Dunn in.

K (1): Greg The Leg

P (1) Braden Mann

LS (1): Thomas Hennessey

EDITOR'S NOTE: Special teams changes: None.

Practice Squad (16)

Conor McDermott OT
Jamien Sherwood LB
Tarik Black WR
Zonovan Knight RB
Chris Streveler QB
Eddy Pinero K
Johnathan Marshall DT
Tony Adams S
Grant Hermanns OT
Jabari Zuniga DE
Kenny Yeboah TE
Tanzel Smart DT
Bradin Echols CB
Nate Herbig OG
Hamsah Nasirildeen LB
Bradlee Anae DE

Lots of young guys that just could not make the final cut. Streveler gives us a backup for the first few weeks while Zach is trying to get healthy, and Pinero staying close by just in case. Also, Mike White stinks. No practice squad for you.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Practice squad changes: Pierschbacher now on the main roster. Phillips, Wildgoose, Riley, Thomas, Perine, Wesco out. Anae, Herbig, Echols, Pineiro, Knight, Sherwood, McDermott in.

Gentleman and Gentleman, I introduce your 2022 New York Football Jets.

Hugs and Kisses- Jet Up

(Editor's Note: The fourth leg will follow after the Giants game)
